Ray Giacopelli is a Programming and Media-Research consultant, with decades of experience working at such media entities as AMCN, NBCU/USA, Viacom, and Warner Bros. Expertise in looking at scripts, treatments, pilots, proposed series acquisitions, and scheduling scenarios to ascertain potential audiences.
Script reading at Warner Bros (where he found the source material for Stanley Kubrick's 'Full Metal Jacket'), was followed by a TV research career, culminating in SVP Research USA Networks. After Research positions at Comedy Central and NBC/Universal, he came to AMC Network just before 'Mad Men' and 'Breaking Bad' were about to debut, and designed the research that guided 'Mad Men' season two. Soon worked with all AMC Networks (AMC, WEtv, IFC, Sundance, BBC-A) forecasting audience for all dayparts and programs (returning or proposed) for Programming, Sales/Planning, Finance, and Senior Management. Was part of the group that saw the potential in and pushed to develop 'The Walking Dead' right from the initial script.
Ray holds a M.S. in Social Research / Media Research from the City University of New York (Hunter), a B.A. in Communications Arts & Sciences from the City University of New York (Queens), and a Film-making certification from New York University.
